Introduction by Renato Miracco, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in New York
It is an honor for me to write these few words to salute the 2009
edition of the EUART tour. As the Director of the Italian Cultural
Institute in New York, I cannot help but admire an initiative aimed at
promoting and exporting the exceptional value of "Made in Italy" to
the United States.
EUART represents an extraordinary opportunity to showcase the prestige
of our established and emerging artists at the international
level. But EUART is not simply an art show: its partnership with a
high-profile fashion appointment and with several other international
events under the umbrella of Ilaria Niccolini Production creates
synergies that add value to the wonderful works of all the artists,
designers and professionals that are represented here.

Introduction by Liborio Stellino, Consul General of Italy in Boston
EUART is, for Boston, a bet already won two years ago, when - under the
whirlwind of energy originated by Ilaria Niccolini - we decided to
host the 2007 selection, starting the glorious itinerary that from the
Consulate moved such an ambitious challenge to elegant galleries and
showrooms of Beantown. At that time, the Globe quoted my provocative
words pronounced at the opening reception when - with the frustration
due to some general persistent perceptions on my Country - I declared
that "in the minds of many, Italian culture begins and ends with
spaghetti and meatballs and Michelangelo". To disprove that Italy
lacks alternatives to its inevitable, eternal portrait as only a
traditional restaurant or a classic museum, it was therefore a
pleasure and a privilege to provide space and voice to a talented
group of emerging artists who launched a warm, dissonant and colorful
message to the Boston audience. That message simply tells us that
Italian artists and designers are still able to perpetuate the
awareness, deeply rooted in the past and constantly adapting itself
throughout the centuries, of being the best manufacturers of emotions
in the world. When, on the occasion of the 2009 Italian National Day,
I will be given the honor to unveil once again the joyful and vibrant
canvases of the young EUART "titans", it will be my pleasure to
renew my heartfelt thanks for their passionate efforts to affirm
worldwide a more updated and lively image of Italy in the
international current cultural landscape.
Bentornata a Boston, EUART, with
your fresh breath of enthusiasm, made of enlightened creativity and
gifted dreams!
