Giuliano Pecelli was born in Trieste in 1944. In 1969-70 he attended the Free School of Figure at the the Civic Museum Revoltella in Trieste, under the teaching of Nino Perizzi. In 1970 he moved to the USA, where he studied art at New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, from ’71 to ’74. While there he was in close contact with the top exponents of American abstract expressionism, taking part in courses taught by Philip Guston and Wilhelm De Kooning. He began exhibiting in Atlantic City in 1975.
In the 80s he returned to Italy and, after a period of reflection, in 1986 he resumed painting and actively participating in the artistic life of Trieste. His works are in private and public collections in USA, France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and Italy. He has exhibited in 12 individual shows and over one hundred collective shows. In 2000 he was among the founding members of the Associazione Culturale Galleria Poliedro of Trieste. Currently he is the vice-president of that same cultural association, and collaborates with several national associations for the organization of international exhibitions and art fairs. He also collaborates with Syrlin Kunstverein of Stuttgart and with EUart.org, on the preparation of exhibitions of European Artists in the USA.
