Philipp Liedl was born in 1974 in Esslingen, Germany. He studied physics at the University of Stuttgart from 1994 to 2001, and obtained his doctorate on non-linear dynamics in 2005. He works for STASA GmbH – a company of the Steinbeis technology transfer network. Philipp Liedl has been awarded the doit-Software Award by the MFG Foundation, and the Löhn Award of the Steinbeis Foundation. In his artworks he experiments with colors and abstract forms on different materials such as canvas, metal, and wood. The combination of colors in context with forms, and the balancing between color and form is a main topic of his work. Geometric peaceful paintings alternate with dynamic, intuitively motivated ones. Philipp Liedl lives and works in Stuttgart. He has been exhibiting in solo and group shows in Germany, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
